Young Bucs Cheer 2026
We are thrilled to have you with us! The 2026 Young Bucs (YB) Cheer season is gearing up to be our most exciting year yet—packed with fresh material, dynamic new coaches, elevated skill-building, and a whole new level of FUN.
This season, we’re not just building stronger athletes… we’re building a stronger community. When you sign your child up, you’re giving them the gift of teamwork, confidence, technique, and an awesome way to stay active—but you’re also stepping into a program that thrives because of the energy and involvement of families like yours.
As the Grand Haven cheer program continues to grow, we’re counting on our parents to rise with us—on the sidelines, within our teams, and on our committees. These years with our littles fly by, and being part of what they love is one of the best ways to stay connected, stay present, and make memories right alongside them.
Keep an eye out for opportunities to jump in—head coaching roles, parent volunteer coaching, event committees, “Buried Treasure” awards, and so much more. There’s a place for every skill, every schedule, and every level of enthusiasm.

Registration
Early Bird Special - Friday, April 17th – 7:00pm – Midnight - $140.00 (+ $130.00 for new uniform) = $270.00
Standard Registration – Saturday, April 18th – Sunday, April 26th - $165.00 (+$130.00 for new uniform) = $295.00
Athletes are to be registered under the grade level they will be in “NEXT YEAR” – the 2026-27 school year.
If an athlete is registered under an incorrect team placement and the team roster is already full, your athlete may end up on a waitlist.
Team size is limited. If a team fills to capacity, a waitlist will become available. Should there be enough participants on a waitlist, and qualified coaches available, there may be the possibility of opening an additional team. If placed on a waiting list, your payment will not be processed until your athlete is placed on a team roster.
There is a hard cut off on April 26th. Registration requests after this date will not be accepted due to the tight turnaround time for uniform and equipment orders.

Uniforms & Poms
Uniforms
The entire program will be sporting a new uniform this year. The uniform must be paid for at the time of registration to be placed on a team roster.
The cost for the new uniform is $130. This includes the shell, skirt, and bodysuit. YB Cheer plans on using this uniform for the next 3 years.
MANDATORY UNIFORM TRY ON is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd at the Lakeshore Middle School cafeteria. We ask that the athletes arrive wearing cheer spandex/shorts and a sports bra to assist in finding a correct fit. No make up please, as we would like to alleviate leaving marks and stains on the try-on items.
2026-27 - K/1st Grade – 10am
2026-27 - 2nd Grade – 11am
2026-27 - 3rd Grade – 12pm
2026-27 - 4th Grade – 1pm
2026-27 – 5th Grade – 2pm
2026-27 – 6th Grade – 3pm
· If you are unable to make this event, there will only be one make up session, to be held Tuesday, May 5th 5:30-8:00pm at the LMS Cafeteria.
Families will be responsible for the purchase of personal items: all white no show socks, all white cheer shoes, navy spandex cheer shorts, all navy leggings, and poms.
Registration cost also includes a team t-shirt, personalized sweatshirt, and team bow.
Poms
Poms will be the same as years past. Gently used K/1 poms will be available at a discounted price during the uniform try-on event. A group order for new K-6 poms will be taken for anyone needing new poms. Group ordering cuts down on the shipping costs. We highly recommend taking part in the group order, if needed. Orders will be taken in May. More info to follow.
Pom Tags
Anyone wishing to order pom tags, orders will be taken at the uniform try-on event. These are an optional item, that allows your cheerleader to ability to label their own poms. The funds from the purchase of pom tags goes toward our GHHS Varsity Scholarship Fund.
Team Info
K-3rd Grade Teams
Beginning the week of August 10th, for the first 2 weeks of the season, these teams will practice 2x/week. Practices are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
There will be NO PRACTICE the week of August 24th.
Starting the week of August 31st, these grade level teams will practice 1x/week, every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm. All practices will be held at the GHHS soccer practice field (behind the school). Please note, because of the size of our group if practice gets cancelled due to weather, there is no indoor option.
Practice attire should be comfortable athletic wear and cheer shoes. Cheerleaders can wear their YB T-shirts to each practice if they wish (not required). Bring a water bottle and dress for the temperature. It is a bit of a hike from the GHHS parking lot back to the practice field, so please plan accordingly.
Games are held at the GHHS Football Field/Practice Fields on Saturdays. A schedule will be provided once it is received from the Young Bucs Football program, typically by the second week of August.

With YB Tackle Football participating in the West Michigan Junior Football League, our 5th & 6th grade cheer teams will travel to away games to support our partner football teams.
Parents/Guardians will be responsible for transportation to Saturday games. We are awaiting the release of the game schedule (anticipate release in August).

GAMES
Games are Saturdays beginning (tentatively) September 12th and running through October 17th. More to come on game times once we receive information from Young Bucs Football.
Full uniform for each game which includes bodysuit, skirt, shell, navy sport shorts, white no show socks, white cheer shoes and bow. As the weather gets cooler, please consider all navy leggings, gloves, head band/hat.
K-3rd Grade Cheerleaders should arrive for games 15 minutes prior to game start time.
4-6th Grade Cheerleaders should arrive for games 30 minutes prior to the game start time.
After attendance is taken, cheerleaders will be escorted to their spots on the track for warmups and game time!
K-3rd Grade games last approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour.
4-6th Grade games last approximately 1 hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
Please pick up your cheerleader as they exit the track.
BATHROOM BREAKS
Any cheerleader who needs to use the restroom during a practice, game, or high school game will need to consult their parent / guardian. Young Bucs and/or GHHS staff will NOT be responsible for taking your child to use the restroom, nor will we have access to the GHHS restrooms. There will be a porta potty close by our practice field for your child to walk to independently if they need to use it.

COMMUNICATION

CANCELLATIONS
Any cancellation of practice, game or event due to weather, schedule change or unforeseen circumstances will be sent via email and Band.
